MDF Blue: what is it?
MDF is a popular board material that can be used for countless projects. MDF Blue is a coloured MDF variant and is often chosen because of its smooth surface and because it is easy to process and assemble. The board material can be recognized by its Blue colour and fibrous structure. Because the wood fibres of MDF Blue are enriched with a pigment during the production process, the wood fibres remain visible. This ensures a unique appearance. MDF Blue is also a suitable choice if you wish to finish your project by (partially) covering it with, for example, wallpaper; the somewhat coarse surface allows this to adhere well. Do you wish to use MDF for visible work? Then it must still be finished with, for example, a clear lacquer.
MDF Blue is both a decorative and a constructive board. This means that you only have to finish painting the board material before use.
Valchromat coloured MDF
This thoroughly coloured material is very popular and also known as Valchromat coloured MDF. The fibres are impregnated with organic dyes. The panels are therefore coloured through-and-through. Next, the fibres are moisture-proofed by a special resin that makes Valchromat unique. By using the organic dyes and the natural variation of the wood colour, the panels are almost never completely identical in colour.
Available thicknesses MDF Blue
You can order high-quality MDF Blue from us. MDF Blue is available in a thickness of 8 mm and 19 mm.
Machining of MDF Blue boards
The board consists of wood fibres that are compressed under high pressure. This makes MDF Blue easy to process. When milling or sawing, this board material does not splinter. The fibres are held together by resin. This makes it important to degrease the board well before painting it. MDF also has a suction effect, which is why we recommend always finishing the edges with an edge sealer. For this reason, MDF Blue is only suitable for indoor applications and in dry conditions.
Are you going to lacquer MDF Blue? Then it is a good idea to countersink the screws and to seal them. You do this by first sanding the board, then mixing some dust from the sanding with filler. This way, the filler takes on the colour of the plate. Then sand and varnish the whole thing neatly in one go.
Specific applications of MDF Blue
You choose MDF Blue if you want to create an interior project in a Blue colour. The choice to keep the texture of MDF Blue visible is mainly due to the characteristic MDF wood fibres structure that, thanks to the production process, creates a unique texture. Thus, you have the advantages of a Blue colour with MDF's characteristic visible texture. This unique coloured look makes MDF Blue a suitable choice for decorating bedrooms and children's rooms as well as sports halls, shop windows and offices. The coloured look provides a lively basis for MDF Blue to leave a unique impression in your project.
