IKEA BESTA hack: custom extension of TV cabinet with dark panels, by Willem

On the internet we saw a beautiful piece of furniture, consisting of a floating part with cupboards and a kind of 'bar'. The local furniture maker came up with a bizarrely high quote, so we looked for an alternative. We chose two Besta cabinets from IKEA and some loose pine shelves that we ordered online.

How I made this project

Assemble the IKEA cabinets as described and put them on the same hung height as the niche. Then measured and ordered wood (3 planks). We sawn the plank in the niche after delivery so that it fits exactly. We cut the end of the other two planks with a cross-cut saw at 45 degrees. miter sawn. Using a special glue clamp, the corner was mitered with construction adhesive. Completely coated with special (hard) wax and assembled. Relatively simple but with a great result.
