To neatly conceal the washing machine, Jan started working on a custom conversion. He took the measurements himself and ordered the sawn MDF panels online. The laundry room looks neat again!
Description by Jan
From the living room we look straight into the utility room with washing machine and dryer. Because the connecting door cannot always be closed due to the food bowl and water bowl for the dog. By making this frame with extra cupboard space, the view has become a lot neater.
How I made this project
First determined the washer and dryer frame. Then we looked at whether a door makes sense between the two devices. Conclusion: yes for visible placement of detergents. Then measured the space above the appliances for extra storage behind two doors. There is ventilation space at the back for the devices. Ordered wood online, bought raw wood (uprights and beams), hinges and fittings at a hardware store. After arrival, everything was further customized and doors were hung, then painted, including the entire utility room, then everything was screwed and glued. Tip: narrow door and beams can be easily removed (few screws) so that removing and inserting devices is still easy.
Dimensions of my DIY project
160.0 x 160 .0 x 60.0 cm. No working drawing because it's more about the idea and every room is different
