Timberboard Beech A/B - Joined staves: wat is dat?

Beech is a hardwood species that contains little to no knots. Steamed beech has a white to pinkish colour that may discolour when exposed to daylight. When you sand the panel, the original wood colour will return, which is highly recommended before finishing the panel with a stain, varnish or oil. Beech wood has little markings, the visible markings are generally even and calm. Beech wood has a straight, sometimes wavy grain and a fine grain. This type of wood also has an even structure with little markings. The beech wood in our range is steamed, which gives the wood a soft pink and relatively even colour. Perfect when you are looking for a wood species with a subtle appearance.

Wood can be divided into hardwood and softwood categories. Hardwood comes from deciduous trees and softwood from conifers. Beech wood is a light-coloured hardwood. Hardwood, or hardwood, is characterised as hard and strong board material.

Beech wood has antibacterial properties and is odourless. It is important to always treat beech wood properly right away. Sand the board and then finish it with a lacquer, stain or oil. Beech wood is not suitable for outdoor applications, keep this in mind. In addition, just like any other solid wood species, beech wood deteriorates with temperature differences and when used in damp rooms. Therefore, with solid panels, always take warping into account.

Visibility quality of solid panels

The solid panels in our range are of high quality. This can be deduced from the visibility quality. The visible quality is indicated by letters, often a combination of two letters with a separator in between. This can be found in the product name or the product properties. The first letter stands for the top of the panel, the second for the bottom or back. A/B thus describes the top and bottom appearance of the panel. A is the best visibility quality. More information on the appearance quality can be found below.

Continuous slats

This panel is constructed from Continuous slats. In this technique, several staves

of solid wood are placed side by side and glued together. The slats run in the same direction and along the full length of the panel.

The staves are carefully selected to ensure a good match in colour and grain pattern. They are then glued together with strong wood glue to form a solid panel. Often, the staves are also pressed together under high pressure to ensure the panel is solid and stable.

nerfrichting

Timberboard shows a wood grain. The pattern of the wood grain always runs lengthwise. When sawing the board, we keep in mind that the length measurement is also the length direction of the wood grain. So pay close attention when entering the dimensions so that the grain of the wood all runs in the right direction!

Available thicknesses of solid Timberboard Beech

Solid lumber panels can be ordered in various thicknesses. You can easily indicate your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way, you can be sure that the panel material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 40 mm.

Machining of solid Timberboard Beech

Machining beech wood is quite easy. It is a hard wood, but easy to work. This is partly due to the low chipping that the wood has. Because it is a light, hard wood, the use of sharp tools is highly recommended. Blunt, or not sharp, tools can cause burn marks. We also strongly recommend using stainless steel screws instead of iron screws to prevent discolouration of the wood.

Always sand solid board material with a fine grit before working on it. Beech wood does not splinter but pre-drilling is necessary. Wood absorbs moisture faster than it gives it away, because of this property there is a risk of deformation, wood works! Therefore, treat the material as soon as possible with a lacquer or stain so that you can enjoy it for as long as possible.

Processing instructions

This panel is interior glued, which means that the furniture can only be used for indoor applications. Solid panels work in temperature differences and in humid conditions. It is important to always treat the solid panel properly right away with a lacquer, stain or oil to prevent warping.

Specific applications of solid Timberboard Beech

These panels can be used for various carpentry applications such as stairs, furniture, kitchen worktops or tables. Beech is ideal for use in the kitchen because it is non-toxic wood. This is why we often see this panel used as a chopping board, chopping block or kitchen or counter top. The panel is not durable and interior glued. As a result, this panel material can only be used indoors.
