Description

Plywood sheets can be used for countless different projects. Plywood birch is the most popular variant of plywood because it has a nice appearance and is also a strong wood species. It is glued waterproof and a durable choice. (Partition) walls, table tops, countertops and furniture are just a few examples of the projects for which plywood birch can be used.

Availability birch plywood

Birch Plywood is imported from Russia. You can therefore imagine that it is currently difficult to obtain. Some thicknesses are still in stock, but others not at all. The web shop indicates which thicknesses are still in stock.

To help you further, we have collected a number of alternatives for you. Check here which types of wood we have selected to realise your project with the light look or, on the contrary, the hard qualities of Birch.

Order cut-to-size plywood birch sheets online

Plywood birch is one of the most popular types of wooden sheets. It is strong, smooth and has an attractive edge finish that is used for many visual applications. Easily order cut-to-size plywood birch online. Plywood can be cut or milled to size into various shapes. The most commonly chosen shape is a rectangle, but we also mill circles, ovals, hexagons or even parallelograms for you. Do you want to have your do-it-yourself project neatly finished? Then choose one of the available (edge) finishes.

Plywood birch: what is it?

Plywood birch is the most popular variant of plywood for indoor use because it is the best choice in terms of quality. It is glued waterproof as standard and has a clearer wood grain compared to poplar plywood. Moreover, birch is a hardwood species. This plywood sheet is much harder than poplar, a softwood species. So it can take a beating! This also makes the material more durable. Plywood birch has a natural, light brown colour with sleek and decorative edges. With plywood birch, the wood grain is clearly visible, which causes the coarse flames in the wood. The wood grain pattern runs in the longitudinal direction of the sheet material by default.

Plywood birch is made up of various birch veneer layers. These layers are glued crosswise on top of each other. This results in a stable sheet. However, for the wood that is glued, during sawing and machining of plywood birch, tension may be released which may cause longer sheets to have a slight curvature.

Plywood quality birch BB/BB

The quality of plywood surface layers is indicated by letter combinations. There is a letter designation for the visible side (top) and one for the reverse side (bottom). This refers to the quality of the top veneer; the quality of the bonding, for example, is indicated differently. BB/BB is an example of a common quality, which can be used for decorative applications. In this, the first letter (in this case BB) means the quality of the visible side and the second letter (in this case BB) means the quality of the reverse side. Read here more about all vision qualities.

Because of its slightly lower visual quality, plywood with the BB/BB sight grade is often used in applications where aesthetics are not the highest priority. It is used for structural purposes, internal cladding, furniture construction and other applications where the visible surface is less important.

It is important to note that visibility grades can vary depending on local standards and specifications. It is advisable to consult the specific ratings and standards of the manufacturer or supplier when purchasing plywood to ensure that the wood meets the requirements for the intended application.

Available thicknesses of plywood birch

Plywood can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily specify your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way you can be sure that the sheet material meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: .

Machining plywood birch sheets

Plywood is a sheet material that is easy to work with when you have sharp tools at your disposal. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with centring tip. Pre-drilling is also recommended with this sheet material. This sheet material can discolour prematurely, so always finish it with a (clear) varnish, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood to prevent the lacquer or stain from being absorbed into the sheet material, which can lead to the veneer layers loosening.

Specific applications of Plywood Birch

Plywood birch is very suitable for projects such as floorboards and templates, but also think, for example, of a cabinet base, carcass or other skeleton that will still be finished with other decorative means.
