Description by Laura
A shallow shelving unit for storage jars. Especially for a difficult unused corner in the kitchen. Now I have a nice overview of all my flour, rice, sugar, salt, lentils, nuts....
How I made this project
I wanted a shelving unit for my supplies pots. Because this is a small corner and the passage had to be maintained, the kitchen installer could not install a permanent cupboard here. After determining the sizes, I ordered wood for this shelving unit. This was for a raced cabinet, so not that difficult to calculate. If only the horizontal shelves were 2mm shorter than calculated; (cabinet width -2x side shelf thickness -2mm) that play expanded nicely when putting it together, it just fit. I first primed the wood and drilled holes for the horizontal planks. With help I screwed everything together and painted the cabinet. Finally, we had to stick felt pads under the 'legs' so that the cupboard hangs back slightly. It is surprisingly sturdy for a narrow tall cabinet! Very happy with the result, the delivery of the wood was also flawless.
